This 4-hour woodturning workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to spindle turning on a benchtop wood lathe, with a strong emphasis on safety and correct tool use. Led by an experienced maker-educator specialising in woodturning, the session combines structured demonstrations with supervised, hands-on practice.
Participants are introduced to lathe components, various methods of securing the workpiece, and the selection of turning tools. The workshop is focused on building confidence and foundational skills through the completion of a small spindle project, such as a honey dipper. Approximately 60% of the session is hands-on, with continuous guidance to ensure safe and precise work.
