Led by: Minati Baro Step into the world of metal casting with this introductory sand casting workshop. Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of the process, where molten metal is poured into compacted sand moulds to create solid forms.

The session begins with an understanding of materials, tools, and safety practices. Participants learn how to prepare sand moulds, work with simple patterns, and create cavities that will define the final object. The process covers mould assembly, pouring, cooling, and breaking the mould to reveal the cast piece.

Emphasis is placed on understanding material behaviour, precision in preparation, and the transformation from loose sand to solid metal form. Each participant completes and takes home a small cast object, gaining a foundational understanding of this ancient and widely used technique.
